Looks like your luck did not rub off on me, birthday boy.
I had another row with my supervisor again yesterday.
And she said: "Well, it's not like she said it a day before so it was time-sensitive, and government officials say those sort of things all the time (The minister said that she put the safety of the high-speed rail at top priority, and if that wasn't guaranteed, she would give up her job.)"
And before I could start to reply, she went on: "You shouldn't be advocating the government in your stories, you know (but she does that all the time...). In fact, I think your stories have been getting worse."
And she said that in front of everybody I know in that office. That was when I lost it (well, kind of).
"So why don't you just tell me where I can make improvements?" I said, trying to be polite but I could already sense hostility seeping out.
"Why should I tell you?" she replied. "You should be figuring that out yourself."
(Oh, right...so what exactly is your job? A supervisor who doesn't need to do anything but make the newslist every day?)
Of course I kept it to myself, but just by "retorting" her (to me, that was asking a question; to her, that was "回嘴") I probably lost any chances of getting a raise this month.
Sigh.....
